Married Enugu Pastor Marries Another Man's Wife With 10 Children & Her Daughter

A pastor, Mr Timothy Ngwu, was on Monday docked at an Enugu North Magistrates’ Court for allegedly marrying another man’s wife, daughter as well as another woman.

Veronica Ngwu, the pastor’s wife was said to have petitioned the court over the development.
The victims whom Ngwu converted to his “wives’’ were said to be members of his church: Gods’ Favor Ministry, Nsukka.

One of the victims, Mrs Calista Omeye, however, told the court that her husband, Mr Fidelis Omeye, had persuaded her to meet the pastor as he wanted her to do the will of God through the pastor.

“My husband was a member of the church and he introduced me to the church, because he said that the pastor had a revelation for me (Calista).

She said the revelation had to do the will of God but he later left the church but I refused to leave the church with him.

“I have 10 children for him and we were all members of the church before he quitted and I had a baby for the pastor but the baby died after some weeks,” she told the court.

She said that it was with her husband’s consent that their daughter was given to the pastor in marriage.

“It is not true that I gave out our daughter in marriage to the pastor without the consent from my husband, he was aware of everything,” she said.

The pastor who hailed from Ihe-Owerre, Nsukka, was absent from the court as he was said to be on admission at an hospital in Enugu.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs R.I. Oruruo, adjourned hearing in the matter to Sept. 26.

In another development, the magistrate sentenced 17 youths from Amuzam-Ugwuaji in Enugu North Local Government Area to three weeks’ imprison for conspiracy and unlawful assembly.

The accused persons were in 2013 arraigned for malicious damage of a building under construction belonging to one Mr Charles Maduekwe, at Independence Layout, Enugu.

The complainant had told court that he invested over N20million on the project before the incident occurred.

Maduekwe said that he invited some military men to arrest the accused person who later handed them over to the police.

He said that the military men recovered harmers and other dangerous weapons used by the accused persons to perpetuate the crime.

Meanwhile, the President General of the town, Mr Emmanuel Nwafor, said that the disputed land belonged to the community.

No external body had ever claimed the land or bought it from the community, Nwafor said.
He alleged that the youths were waiting for the elders to allocate the land before the military arrived and whisked them away.

“We did not destroy any pillar or building as the land was covered by weeds. We only went there to share the land.

“It was when they refused to leave the land that some military men arrested them,” he said.
Ruling on the matter, Oruruo said that the evidence before the court showed that there was a conspiracy among the accused persons to commit a crime and unlawful assembly to breach public peace.

She, therefore, sentenced the accused persons to three weeks imprisonment each, with a N10, 000 option of fine. (NAN)

Check Pictures, Pastor E.A Adeboye Fixes Abandoned Road In Osun

@Pastor EAAdeboye Fixes Abandoned Road in Osun State

To assist the Osun State Government in its effort towards construction of roads in the state, PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE has fixed the abandoned road from the Palace of the King in Ile-Ife to the Palace of the King in Ifewara (his place of birth) few months ago.

The 15+ km road which was in a very deplorable state and not motorable during raining season has been neglected for a long time. This is probably because the users have been looked at as people of zero clout or voiceless in our society, as such farmers might have witnessed difficulties in getting their harvest to the potential buyers in urban areas.

Alas! To ease the stress of commuters and road users plying this route and to further aid business activities in this community, Pastor Adeboye silently constructed this 15+ km road as one of his contributions towards development in that community.

According to a reliable source, during the construction of the road, the Prison in Ile-Ife pleaded with Pastor Adeboye to extend his arm of magnanimity to them by helping to fix their road which branches off the main road that was constructed but has been neglected by both State and Federal government.

He also visited and prayed for some of the community members nearby.

Making Nigeria great starts with you and I.

Another Religious Perspective. (Must Read)... THE RISE OF THE PREACHERS OF PARANOIA- CHRISTIANITY IN NIGERIA UNDER THREAT?

THE RISE OF THE PREACHERS OF PARANOIA- CHRISTIANITY IN NIGERIA UNDER THREAT?
Luke 21:7-19
Some time ago, a supposed believer said that ; "... I know that it is not everything we practice and do that can be connected with a scriptural verse, but does that make us less Christians." That is the kind of believers we are raising in/for the Church. Men defined by anything but not exclusively the scriptures.
Today, you cannot attend or listen to sermons in many local Churches especially mainline Churches (Churches started by missionaries) and not end up hearing a preacher say that Christianity is under attack and Nigerian Christians should rise. And the indigenous Churches called Pentecostals have either subtly practice "politics of association"(permitting politics through some religious special services to make inferences that will conform the mind of their members) or completely talk about Heaven like the fuel price don't affect them. Shioo! Mtschew!
To many of these Paranoia preachers, the problem began when "Born again" Jonathan was voted out by hook/crook and "Fanatic" Buhari took over. There was protection they say for Christians under Jonathan and it doesn't matter the corruption, he is still a better choice. A "revivalist" spent time talking about this in a Church I attended,(if we can call him a revivalist) and I can tell you it was not comforting. And on social media- C.A.N. (forget the internal crisis or the accusations about its elections) the Christian "Union" (we may need to differentiate between Union and Unity someday) have suddenly become defensive. They want to Islamize us. I have checked the track record- and see how much Islamization have changed the Islamic countries. The Sunnis and Shia are currently doing a great job with each other.
Prophetic declarers are on the rise and I am still searching for where Jesus and Apostles made daily prophetic declarations in the Bible. Did they not teach them the word and allow believers to engage with it?
Paranoia is the new "gospel". Preachers who have dined at Aso Rock don't want to let go of the lifestyle. Those who have traveled for free to Jerusalem still want the free ride. I have said in another place- 'the christian leaders have dined with the appearance of evil and soon they will have to accept to accommodate the enemy when he comes for a visit. You can't keep the devils best dress in your ward robe and not expect him not to come pay you a visit' .
Gone were the days when a visit from Benson Idahosa meant truth was coming for a visit. Politics attended vigils, paid courtesy visits on special services and we celebrated it...we have forgotten that Saul carrying out the sacrifice does not mean he can usurp the position of God's chosen priests.
Ask a typical northern believer, persecution of the faith is a regular occurrence. My grandfathers cousin, a Reverend was slaughtered during the Maitatsine movement of the early 80's and thousands have died since. The Northern Christians have experienced over and over again persecutions and now they are bringing the fight to the "sacred South", everyone thinks the war just started. Mr. Nathaniel, sorry Ogbeni is now an Anti- Christ?
WHAT IS PARANOIA PREACHING?
It is raising an alarm like something new and unexpected is happening with intent to create fear and control people. It is a typical "adult Tantrum" episode. When all you want your listeners to know is that a non Christian in power is no no and a Church goer and non-professing believer is a better option. Paranoia messages focuses on creating a Worldview in which "lesser evil" is God's will.
Here is the Shocker for Paranoia preachers...
Luke 21 says; "...And what will be the sign that these things are about to take place?”" The people listening to Jesus Christ asked for the signs of things to come. Jesus gave four signs to look out for:
1. There will be a rise in false Messiahs who claim to either be Christ or represent Christ. How will you know them?
ALL; THEY WANT IS YOUR FOLLOWER-SHIP- so Jesus Christ said; "don't follow them"(vs 8)
2. There will be attempts to FRIGHTEN believers- so Jesus Christ said; "do not be afraid" (vs.9)
3.There will be a rise in believers PERSECUTIONS and Wars will increase- so Jesus Christ said; "none will withstand you" (vs15).
4. There will be oppositions from family and friends- So Jesus Christ said; "Your life will find its meaning or you will gain your lives" (vs 19).
IN A NUTSHELL- THESE EVENTS SHOULD BE EXPECTED, THESE OPPOSITIONS SHOULD BE OPPORTUNITIES, BELIEVERS OUGHT TO FIND THEIR PLACE IN THE MIDST OF THE CHAOS GOING ON.
A thousand Jonathans did not stop the persecutions- check the news and see how many were slaughtered in the name of religion during the time of Jonathan. Ask from those living in the north how many have been denied their rights simply because they are Christians. A Youth Corper told me that he was pressurized into studying Sharia law a couple of years ago because it was unnatural for him to be called YERIMA and still be a Christian. He said; "I decided to go to Nasarawa State Polytechnic because I was told I won't be permitted to study Civil law which I applied for/ qualified for because I can't be continue to be Yerima and still remain a Christian in their supposed University and it was a federal University for that matter".
PARANOIA PREACHING does not see the events at the time of Jonathan and even Buhari from the perspective of the Scriptures.
That is what true disciples of Christ much seek. What do all these mean in the light of the scriptures? Wait if we live for Jesus like those in the persecuted areas are doing, won't we be persecuted? Just think about that!
If we remove Buhari and install Pastor Prof. Osinbajo, will the events of Nigeria and the World not follow the very descriptions of the scriptures? Donald Trump confuses and frightens many people but will Donald Trump or Hilary Clinton's election overturn the things predicted by the Bible, events the Bible says will happen and is indeed happening in this end time?
HISTORY IS RUNNING OUT and THE BIBLE IS BEING FULFILLED EVERYDAY.
LISTEN TO JESUS CHRIST...
These days are meant to
1. Increase the opportunity to PROCLAIM the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Luke 21:12 that HIS NAME WILL BE THE REASON FOR OUR PERSECUTION not the loss of an election. "But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and governors because of my name."
2. Help INSTALL in believers the twin tools for living in victory & and the Tools are DIVINELY GIVEN WORDS AND WISDOM that grants victory against oppositions. Jesus will give believers the word and wisdom so that oppositions will always fail. Paranoia preachers wants you to hate, Jesus Christ wants you to WIN. Praise God!
3. Your LIFE will find MEANING during persecutions and infact in this end time. There is no better time than now for believers in Nigeria to GAIN LIFE through Christ. Jesus said; "By your endurance you will gain your lives". This means you life will find its place in the prophecies and expectations of the Word. Paranoia Preachers wants everything to collapse so they can gain a point but Jesus Christ says the chaos will make you shine bright.
JESUS CHRIST KNEW THESE THINGS TOO WELL. His death, burial and resurrection was according to the word prophesied hundreds and thousands of years before He was born. When He rode the donkey to Jerusalem, He remembered the words of Zechariah the prophet. When they beat and tortured Jesus Christ, He remembered Isaiah 52 to 53. When the Jews attacked Him for calling Himself the "son of man", He remembered the title he bears was prophesied by Ezekiel. When He was crucified and was going to be buried, Jesus remembered Psalms 16:10. Everything happened by the foreknowledge of the father. Jesus Christ is alive today because thus it was written and we are witnesses.
Will you ask Jesus Christ to help your life find its meaning, hopes, experience and fulfillment in the word today? You must however begin with calling upon Jesus Christ to save you. I called upon Jesus Christ in 1986 and everyday He assures me of the events happening and about to happen. The Prince of peace is coming and when "all these things begin to happen", we look up and know that our salvation draws near.
My task is done not be offering daily prophetic utterances manufactured to feed your emotions but by declaring the wages oof sin is death but the gift of God through Jesus Christ is eternal life, You can GAIN life. Shalom!

Zamfara Killings: The Case Of Blasphemy Was False. Gov Yari

Olalekan Adetayo, Abuja

The Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, on Wednesday provided horrid details of the events leading to the killing of eight persons in the state.

He said his government would not take lightly the killing, which happened in Talata-Mafara community on Monday.

Yari spoke with State House correspondents shortly after he and his Borno State counterpart, Kashim Shettima, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Eight people were killed on Monday when a mob set the house of a man ablaze for rescuing an undergraduate that was accused of blasphemy.

He said the incident happened in his hometown.

He said, “The government will not take the issue of people taking the laws into their own hands lightly.

“You cannot say that whoever abused the Prophet should be killed when there is a government in place.

“There are laws and there are courts where Islamic laws are practised in Zamfara. So, why should someone take laws into his hands? Definitely, all the culprits will be brought to book.”

He said although there was no arrest as of the time he left the state, policemen and officials of the Department of State Services were working hard to apprehend the culprits.

The governor said the accusation of blasphemy levelled against the victim was false.

According to him, the intelligence reports available to him showed that it was a case of a fight between two students, which later led to false alarm.

He said, “Intelligence reports from the security agencies indicated that there was a fight between two students, during which one said the other abused Prophet Muhammed.

“Students beat up the other boy, said to be a Yoruba from Kogi State. His religion was, however, in contention.

“They beat him until he collapsed and they thought he was dead. Then security personnel requested help from a shop owner who took him to the hospital in his car.

“When the students heard that the victim was still alive, they went to the hospital, but soldiers intervened. I don’t know if he is alive or dead.

“Then the students returned to the polytechnic and burnt the shop of the man who helped the victim. Unfortunately, the police in the division didn’t have enough men to contain the riot.

“Before reinforcement came, the crowd also burned down the man’s house. Everyone in the house was killed, all of them Muslims, despite the rumour in the social media that Christians were being killed in Zamfara.

“In fact, the mob wanted to go and burn churches and attack non-Muslims, but the security forces stopped them. It is my home town, where I also live.”

Muslims Who Shout ‘Allahu Akbar’ Before Killing Innocent Are Insane - Osinbajo

Speaking through the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, at the launch of the revised National Counter Terrorism Strategy, NACTEST, in Abuja, the President said “it is either they do not know the meaning of those words or they are simply deranged.”

The President noted that “these enemies (Boko Haram) are essentially an insane nuisance because they revel in cowardly attacks.”

Explaining that the war against terrorism was unconventional, the President disclosed that his government will change its strategy in a bid to win the war against insurgents.

Buhari said, “There must be an understanding that the war against terrorism is the most unconventional one. They (terrorists) do not respect any rules of engagement; kill the defenseless including prisoners, use children and humans, girls and consider the killing of anyone at all at a victory.

“Therefore as we think through our strategy we must remember that to permanently win the physical battle, we must win the battle of the minds of even the most impressionable young men who sign up to join Boko Haram and other violent extremist groups.

“We must understand that terrorism is essentially a psychological warfare and as such is psychologically sophisticated and we must educate the youth through the leadership of our faith that neither Islam nor any other religion that we know endorses the slaughter of anyone.

“In the past few years our nation faced the threat of terrorism characterized by mindless killing of our people including children.”

"Sex Before Marriage Is OK As Long As It's Mutually Pleasurable"- Female Pastor

A pastor has authored a book which says it’s okay for singles to indulge in sex before marriage, Christian or not.

Having sex outside marriage even though accepted by society, is frowned upon by christians. An author, Bromleigh McCleneghan, has attempted to explain why it may be okay to actually indulge in ‘guilt-free’ sex even as a single christian who doesn’t conform to the world (okay na).

According to her, it’s okay to have sex along as it’s “mutually pleasurable and affirming“. She also said it’s not by force to stay off sex, especially if you became single by circumstance.

The married mother of three who is also an associate pastor at the Union Church of Hinsdale in Chicago, USA, said it’s also great to be faithful to your sexual partner, even if you are both unmarried.

Here’s what she said below:

“If we refrain from having sex that isn’t mutually pleasurable and affirming, that doesn’t respect the sacred worth of ourselves and our partners…Chastity, or just sex, requires that whether we are married or unmarried, our sex lives restrain our egos, restrain our desire for physical pleasure when pursuing it would bring harm to self or other.”

What do you think?

Fake Miracle Syndicate Arrested In Enugu, Says Pastor Hired Them

Members of a syndicate, which specialised in confirming fake prophecies for pastors, have been arrested by the police in Enugu State.

Our correspondent gathered that the group also faked healings for some men of God, who contracted and paid them for their services.

The suspected fraudsters were identified as Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Anambra State; Mary Kuku from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State; Joy Oluwakemi from Ojo, Lagos State; Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze, Anambra State; and Peter Uchechi from Ebonyi State.

They were reportedly apprehended while on their way to Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, where they were contracted to stage phoney miracles and healings for an unnamed pastor in the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects were apprehended on Friday during an argument while waiting to board a vehicle at Holy Ghost Park, Enugu.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development on Sunday, explained that the argument among the fraudsters drew the attention of some policemen within the premises of the park, who interrogated them.

Amaraizu said two members of the syndicate, Ejike and Oluwakemi, opened up on the group’s activities.

Revelations made by the duo led to the arrest of other members of the group at P and T bus stop, Enugu, on Saturday, where they had assembled to board a bus to Abakiliki, the venue of a church service.

A member of the group, Uchechi, said they were usually recruited in large numbers and kept in a house from where they would shuttle to confirm fake prophecies and stage-manage miracles for pastors.

Uchechi said they were usually paid through a coordinator, who acted as a middleman between the syndicate and the pastors.

Upon their arrival in the church, a man, who works for the pastor, would instruct the syndicate on the nature of the assignment.

Uchechi explained that before the scheduled church service, they would list their names and the fake ailments they had, which would be given to the pastor while ministering to the congregation.

During the ‘prophetic hour’ session of the service, members of the syndicate, who were already known to the pastor, would come out when people who had problems were summoned to the altar.

Subsequently, members of the syndicate would announce before the congregation that they had received healing following the pastor’s ministrations.

In other cases, according to Uchechi, members of the syndicate would come out to ‘confirm’ a prophecy, which would be made by the pastor in the course of the service, based on the information they provided before the session.

She added that the members of their group usually fell under the ‘influence’ of the pastor’s anointing, during worship sessions.

“Some pastors use us to grow their churches and ministries and we are paid later through our coordinator, depending on our roles,” Uchechi said.

Ejike, who explained that he worked with the coordinator, admitted that he was in charge of the Abakiliki job, which the group was going for when they were apprehended.

He said he decided to go into the fake prophecy business after his business collapsed in Lagos.

Ejike added that he was mostly involved in the recruitment of personnel for various assignments.

Another member of the group, Chizoba, said she started the ‘business’ in Abuja, after finding it difficult to fend for her baby, who she had out of wedlock.

According to her, she eventually relocated to Onitsha, Anambra State, to team up with the syndicate.

Two other members of the syndicate, Oluwakemi and Kuku, claimed to be widows with four children each, adding that hardship pushed them into the crime.

The police spokesperson, Amaraizu, said investigations were ongoing.

Father Mbaka: "God Is Happy With Buhari, But See Why Many Are Planning To Kill Him"

Fiery Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, has said that plans are being hatched to murder President Muhammadu Buhari over his uncompromising stand on corruption.

In a video message obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Mbaka urged the devotees at his popular Adoration Ground in Enugu to desist from speaking evil against the president.

“So I want to tell you that so far, God is happy with Buhari. And him whom God has blessed, may you not try to accurse, because God will curse you,” said the priest.

“Many people are planning, as it is revealed, to kill him. There are many plans on how to eliminate his life so that corruption will continue, so that quantum embezzlement will continue.

“But the Lord says ‘God who put you there will not forsake you. Be firm, be resolute, remain focused, and be unbiased. Refuse to be intimidated and refuse to be distracted. Go ahead and war against evil. President Buhari, go ahead and war against corruption. President Buhari, God and his people are behind you, you are the answer of the prayers of the people, amen.'”

PREMIUM TIMES could not ascertain the exact date of the message, but it addressed recent occurrences, including the hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

The priest attributed the hardship to past leaders who corruptly enriched themselves and their cronies, adding that all of them – from local government chairmen to presidents – ought to be in exile by now.
“It doesn’t matter the man of God they worship with, I tell you before God and man, all of them are wicked. They hate this country,” he said.
“They succeeded in removing the liver, kidneys, and cardiovascular systems of this country, and paralyzed the neurological organs and handed over to Buhari, the new president, shambles, skeleton almost, a nation that is comatic.
“Nigeria right now, economically, security wise, is in the intensive care unit. If the oxygen is removed, Nigeria will go.
“The entire money voted for hospitals were looted out.
“Corruption was in quantum. To the level that the Nigerian bishops had to compose a prayer – Prayer against Bribery and Corruption, and assured all the Catholics to be praying that prayer every day after the Communion.
“All the money voted for road constructions were swindled, eaten. Many of them became millionaires and billionaires in Naira, in Dollars, in Pounds, in Euro. Billionaires, when they have no workshop, no business centre. Somebody who has nothing he’s doing, yet he’s a billionaire, because he’s a politician.”
In the run up to the 2015 presidential election, Mr. Mbaka threw his weight behind Mr. Buhari, urging his teeming followers to cast their votes for him as the solution to the pervading corruption and insecurity in the country.
In December last year, after Mr. Buhari emerged president, he hosted the priest at the presidential villa where he praised his “exemplary courage.”
Controversy erupted one month later when the Catholic Church transferred Mr. Mbaka out of his parish and away from his ministry, a decision the church staunchly defended as “normal church procedure.”
But the priest continued to deliver his pro-Buhari messages culminating in the president felicitating with him last month as he marked 21 years of priesthood.
In his recent message, Mr. Mbaka said Mr. Buhari was God’s answer to Nigeria’s corruption problems.
“People of God prayed from here and there, God answered our prayers and gave us Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
“And I want to tell you today, God has told us that Buhari is a prayer answered. President Buhari is an answered prayer. Whether you hate him or whether you like him, Buhari is a prayer answered.
“The bishops of Nigeria, the Catholics prayed against bribery and corruption and this president came with a magna charter that has to do with war against corruption.
“All the prayers we have been doing against corruption, God answered that prayer through a Muslim, who decided not to discriminate.

“There’s nothing like religious, racial discrimination in Buhari’s administration. He’s a man for all, he means good for this country, and we owe him support; unalloyed support, consistent support, perennial support, unstoppable support, spiritual and otherwise.”
Mr. Mbaka also said that contrary to the criticisms of marginalization usually levelled against President Buhari’s administration, no section of the country is being marginalised.
“Our past…not our past leaders, our past looters, you may not understand, looters, embezzlers pissed on the political positions, have eaten the cake of this country and now everybody is suffering it,” he said.
“The youths are suffering it. And they want to tell you that we are marginalized. The Yorubas are not marginalized, the Hausas are not marginalized, Efik people are not marginalized, and the Igbo people are not marginalized.
“In the present political scenario, Igbo people have the ministerial position for Minister for External Affairs, full portfolio, in the person of Onyeama. Igbo people have the portfolio for Science and Technology, in the person of Ogbonnaya Onu.
“You go to Abia, we have the Industry and Commerce. Come over to Anambra, we have the Labour and Employment. And the problem of this country today is employment. If our youths are well employed, kidnapping will go. Kidnapping was a child of the past administration. They delivered that ugly baby, and that baby resembled them.”
The priest urged the congregation to reject any claims that the Igbos were being marginalised by the current government, insisting that the present hardship is the product of “intrinsically corrupt past political” activities.
“Many of you were intimidated and you will say what they want you to say,” he said.
“But that is not the case. It is my job to put your mind right. When anybody want you to say that Igbos are marginalized, don’t believe it.
“The Igbos in the north are doing well, and the northern people are not chasing them away. The Igbos in the Yoruba land, go to Idumota, go to Alaba, Ladipo and so on, they are treated with utter hospitality, with innovative kindness. The Yoruba people are not fighting the Igbo people, so why are we evolving a war that does not exist.

“And as I said in the former message, those who are engineering this have their children abroad and they want to use our youths, unemployed and say come out of the road and begin to walk around, that Igbos are marginalized. Our roads were not done. By the end of this year, you will know who ate the money of these roads.”

Things Humanity Could Do Better Without Religion

I often see the argument posed by theists, and some atheists, that humanity somehow requires religion to keep from imploding on itself, and taking away religion would lead to widespread chaos and eventually doomsday.

I tend to strongly disagree.

This is a list of ways I think humanity could very likely be better off without religion now (specifically the Abrahamic religions and others with similar doctrines), supported by evidence I've come across.

Without religion:
1. Humanity could get along better. Tribalism is the blanket term to describe the innate human tendency to form alliances and groups against one another. More and more research is showing that tribalism can be overcome, and peace amongst people of different groups can be achieved, the more people are able to see a like-ness in one another. A "you are human just like me, I accept you, I feel comfortable around you".

Religion is a direct obstacle to achieving this like-ness, and it shouldn't be hard to imagine why. Religion teaches millions of people, usually via childhood indoctrination (brainwashing), that because the so-called "creator of the entire universe" said so, they are better, more "holy", more valuable, more moral than other groups of people. This is a perfect recipe for unnecessary tribalistic tendencies. And we see this type of religious tribalism unfolding all over the world, often violently.

Don't get me wrong, tribalism can and does exist in many other forms (racism, imperialism, even people with different tastes in music can form alliances based on that). But what sets religion apart is the fact that it rests upon a firm foundation of fear (of hell), and shielded from criticism in a way other forms of tribalism aren't, making it much harder to overcome.

2. Humanity could better understand the world & universe around us. Since the dawn of scientific & empirical thought, religion has been in direct opposition to a vast amount of scientific progress. No honest person can deny this. When Galileo discovered the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around, the church wanted him killed because it contradicted the picture the gospels painted of our place in the world. The same goes for the anti-evolution nonsense that still goes on today. People are actively against the foundational theory uniting all biology, for no other reason than that it contradicts the religion they were taught.

Religious indoctrination installs cognitive biases in peoples' minds, causing strong feelings of resistance, anger, hostility and paranoia once they are confronted with certain scientific (& sometimes philosophical) topics that call into question the religious worldview they were indoctrinated with. The anti-intellectual, anti-science mindset that religion births is causing billions of people across the globe to remain centuries behind on a huge chunk of human knowledge. Thus, impeding the scientific & intellectual progress of humanity as a whole.

According to surveys, the countries with the lowest populations of religious people have the highest rates of quality education. It's not always accurate to imply causation from correlation, and the relationship might flow both ways, but it's quite obvious that the more religious someone is, the more unwelcoming of science they're likely to be.

3. Humanity could understand ourselves better. It is true that humans have innate biological insticts that drive much of our behavior. These insticts, as science continues to find, aren't magical but evolved. They helped our species survive, just like every other animals' insticts help it survive. Rather than helping us understand and best navigate our human instincts (like our emotional reactions & sexuality), religion demonizes and mystifies them. It manufactures a ridiculous amount of shame around simply being human.

Religion also, in it's ignorance, has stamped mental disorders with labels like "spiritual invasion" or "demonic posession". Instead of people getting the psychiatric help they need, people are sent to exorcists and other phony religious leaders for "deliverance". Not only does this put lives & minds in danger, but it generates an unnecessary sense of fear and panic around treatable medical conditions, causing people to fundamentally misunderstand their own mental health.

4. Humanity could be more proactive & prosperous. Rather than relying on prayer, which is essentially talking to yourself, people could be more likely to take action towards solving their problems if religion were not a factor in their lives. Again, we see that the most prospering and forward-moving countries have smaller percentages of people who think religiously. Because their societies are based in reason and evidence-based thinking, they are quicker to find workable solutions to economic, political, health, and other issues. Much of the law in the developed world is based on our current understanding of these issues according to research. NOT religious books, which were written by people 2,000 years ago who were quite ignorant in these areas.

5. Humanity could be happier. The biggest reason of all that people give for why people need religion, is that it gives them comfort and hope. When going through a rough time, praying helps people cope. When someone dies, the promise that you'll see them again is soothing. Although I don't deny that religion can serve as an emotional bandaid, or even a vessel for truly healing practices (ex. "giving your troubles up to god" could have the same cognitive effect as "accepting what you can't control and doing your best" ), it is NOT, imo, the only way, let alone the best way, for us to achieve happiness and peace.

As I've mentioned in previous posts, the areas of Neuroscience and Psychology are making some incredible discoveries as of late, uncovering long-awaited answers to our mysterious psyches and how to navigate them. Recent studies show that happiness, contentment, and compassion for onesself and others can be learned & practiced as skills; healing from grief, sorrow, and trauma can be achieved through evidence based psychiatric techniques (including self-directed therapies); and life's obstacles can be surmounted by tapping into proven resources (like a nurturing social environment).

In other words, very good answers to how to be happier, how to get over struggles, how to find peace, are out there. In this day and age, the internet, libraries and bookstores are swarming with this information. With some research into these resources, it should become clear that religion has outlived it's usefulness in this area as well.

So, to conclude, I think that humanity could not only survive without organized religion like the Abrahamic faiths, we could thrive. The children who are raised without the religion across the globe, in areas like the Netherlands, Japan, the Czech Republic, and Iceland, yet become healthy, happy, and functioning members of their societies, are evidence of this. At this point I feel like humanity is clutching on to religion like a child to it's stuffed animal. We don't need it anymore, we just think we do.

With Prayers, Necessary Changes, Nigeria Would Overcome Its Problems – Adeboye

Abuja - Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has called on Christians to continue to pray for peace to take centre stage in the country.

He made the call on Tuesday night at the 8th Edition of the monthly Divine Encounter in Abuja.

The General Overseer also urged the Christians not to treat words from God with levity, adding that ‘’a word from God is capable of altering a person’s destiny for good.’’

The Cleric, who made reference to Jacob in the Bible, explained that Jacob’s name was changed to Israel, meaning ‘’May God prevail” due to some circumstances he had with his brother.

``After the change of name, Israel became a great nation, the pastor said.”

He said that the current challenges in the country should not be seen as permanent, adding that with prayers and necessary changes, Nigeria would overcome its problems.

Adeboye assured Nigerians that ‘’one word from God can settle all issues of life’’ including the current challenges in the country.

``A word from God can begin a person’s journey to glory.”
Quoting Book of 2 kings, Chapter 4, verses eight to 17, in the story of the Shunammite woman, the cleric recalled that the word of God, through prophet Elisha, changed her destiny for good.

According to Adeboye, when God speaks to an individual, the manifestation of that word results into abundant supply.
``When God speaks, it is done”.
Adeboye, however, called on Christians to turn away from sin and embrace righteousness and holy living.

The Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo and Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education were among prominent personalities that attended the programme.

Highlights at the event were prayer for the peace of Nigeria and for the release of Chibok girls.

My Message Is Not For Everybody - Enoch Adeboye Responds To Critics

The General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said his messages are not for everybody. This is because of the criticism that have mare the message he preached few weeks ago.

The popular pastor made this statement after suffering heavy criticisms from Nigerians when a widely circulated footage had shown Adeboye telling the men of his church not to marry a woman who could not cook or pray for a minimum of an hour.

Reacting to the criticisms, Adeboye via his Facebook page said;

“My messages are not for everybody. So, I plead with you, ask God to speak to you specifically.”

In the same video, he warned the spinsters not to marry a man who had no job or who could not show concrete evidence of his means of livelihood. Recall that British-Ghanaian singer, Lola Rae, has disagreed with Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s submission concerning women who have poor cooking skills.

“Yes, I was brought up in a home where my mum cooked for my dad every single day, but she was a housewife.” “My thought is if you have the time, it is okay to cook for your husband, but in a situation where you are a career woman and don’t have the time to cook, there are ways you can go about it.”

I Use Money Made From Stolen Cars To Fund My Church – Pastor

A pastor, who was apprehended by irate mob and beaten to stupor for alleged car theft, has been detained by the Abia State Police Command.
The pastor, Onyenweaku Chibunnam, who is the founder of a new generation church identified as the Assembly of the Redeemed at Ohafia, was said to be linked to a car robbery syndicate in the Amaekpu-Ohafia area of the state.

He was nabbed and tied up by irate mob including a vigilante group who reportedly caught him in the act two days ago.

Items like several vehicle license plates and car keys were found in his possession.

The self-acclaimed pastor, who confessed to the crime, was handed over to operatives of the state Police Command.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen while parading the suspect at the Police Officers Mess in Umuahia, the state capital, on Wednesday, the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Leye Oyebade, said Chibunnam was caught while stealing a Toyota Camry in Ebem Ohafia community, of the Ohafia Local Government Area of the state.

He said Chibunnam was arrested with an accomplice, Prince Nnabugwu, who confessed that they belonged to a car-snatching syndicate.

“They were arrested after stealing the Toyota Camry from where its owner packed it some days ago.

“The suspects were arrested based on a tip-off.

“They confessed to have stolen six Toyota Camry cars from Aba and sold some of them to one Maxwell in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital,” the CP added.

The prime suspect said they did not snatch the car, but stole it from where it was parked.

He explained that it was their sixth in the last few months, adding that he usually sold the cars at 60,000 to one Maxwell who resides in Port Harcourt.

The pastor said, “Maxwell contacted me sometime last year to buy my car that I put up for sale, but he didn’t give me a good price for it, so, I couldn’t sell it to him. But when I stole an old model Toyota Camry last year, I called him to come and take the car I stole.

“We started having a misunderstanding when he requested the car’s original papers and I couldn’t provide them. I later told him that I stole the car.

“Maxwell became more interested in the business and gave me a master key with which I could steal Toyota Camry cars.

“I used the money from the crime to fund my 30-member church.

“I promise not to return to crime if I am set free by the police. It was the work of the devil,” he added.

Meanwhile, the CP, while urging members of the public to purchase their vehicles from only genuine car dealers, said the owner of the stolen black Camry Saloon had recovered it.

He, however, warned criminals in the state to relocate, saying the command would not relent in its war against criminality in the state.
